Oyster Shell Bagging (FULL)
About the Event
Volunteer for an oyster shell bagging to support this vital keystone species. Once collected, these bags will be deployed along our waterways to build out much-needed oyster reef, creating new habitat for other species and helping filter our waters. Support clean water, volunteer today! Registration required. We cannot accommodate those not registered for this event.
Please wear closed-toe shoes, appropriate clothing and bring a reusable water bottle. Gloves provided. Participants not wearing closed-toe shoes will not be allowed to participate for liability/safety reasons.
Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Participants ages 16-17 need to have signed Florida Oceanographic waivers if participating without a parent/guardian. Contact Rosemary at rbadger@floridaocean.org to get these waivers emailed.
- Clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty (long sleeves and long pants reduce bug bites)
- Closed-toe shoes are required (for protection from oyster shells)
- Bring hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle
- Sanitized gloves provided, but feel free to bring your own
- Sanitizer will be available
- Please park at the southern end of our parking lot. Florida Oceanographic Staff will meet you by our Staff/Volunteer Gate
- Everyone will be walking the ½ mile trail to the site.
You will receive an email confirmation once you have registered. If you do not receive a confirmation email your registration did not go through. Please check to make sure the event is not full. If you have difficulties and the event if not full, please email rbadger@floridaocean.org.
An email confirmation from our volunteer coordinator will be emailed to you a few days before the event which will include final details. Please make sure to check your junk and/or spam folders.
Florida Oceanographic staff will meet you by our Staff/Volunteer gate upon your arrival.
