Dune remains strong following December storm, though expert warns of erosion potential going forward
The recent string of winter storms has had an impact on our coastal beaches, especially along the Treasure Coast.
Experts tell CBS12 News that the dune at Normandy Beach in Jensen Beach mostly held up, even during the heavy storm a few weeks ago.
“We’re looking at a beach today that obviously got hit pretty hard last month but looks okay today," said Dr. Zack Jud, the Director of Education at the Florida Oceanographic Society. "The question is what will future winter storms bring and will that start to cut into our precious dunes? These dunes are what ultimately protect us.”
