Algae Blooms and Florida’s Water Issues Virtual Lecture
About the Event
Join Florida Oceanographic’s Dr. Zack Jud for a live Zoom-based lecture focused on Florida’s ongoing water issues, including the various harmful algae blooms that have been plaguing our state. This crash course will cover cyanobacteria, red tide, and other types of harmful algae blooms that occur in Florida, the causes of these blooms, and how a century of water mismanagement and population growth have damaged the Everglades, Lake Okeechobee, and our coastal estuaries. This is an adult-focused program, but the content is relevant for your high school and middle school-aged learners. Space in this free virtual lecture is limited, and preregistration is required.
