Earth Day At-Home Challenge

**Florida Oceanographic's Earth Day Cleanup Challenge Update: In alignment with Keep Martin Beautiful’s health and safety advisory against picking up litter until further notice, we are modifying our Earth Day Challenge. See below for details. **

This Earth Day, practice personal stewardship wherever you are! 

Unfortunately, litter can be found any and everywhere. When not properly disposed of, it can end up in our local watershed and negatively affect ecosystems and wildlife.

What can YOU do?

• Always properly dispose of trash and pick up any that you find.
• Reduce your footprint by cutting out single-use items, especially plastic.
• Reuse whenever possible.
• Recycle right by checking your local recycling rules.
• Rethink your purchases by trying to buy local, fresh and earth-friendly

Join our Earth Day At-Home Challenge:

• Sign up for this virtual cleanup on Florida Oceanographic’s FB event page HERE *

• Show us how you are practicing your R’s, especially REUSE!

• Share a picture with a description of how you have REDUCED your impact by REUSING an item meant for the trash or recycling.

• Get Creative! It doesn’t have to be a craft. You can re-purpose an item for functional use in the house, garage, garden, etc. No new items!

• Check out ideas posted daily in the Facebook event comments as you share your own!

• Winners will be announced Friday afternoon and will receive a special gift from Florida Oceanographic.

• Don't forget to share this with family and friends so they can join in the fun too!
